The PHS Logo - A Tale of Two Summits

In the pursuit of longevity, we can easily describe the journey as a simple climb toward a final summit—a goal we can see clearly in the distance. This summit, in many ways, symbolizes the end of one's lifespan. But what if the summit we envision isn’t the true peak?

What if that peak is only a temporary illusion- a mistaken false summit?

This false summit represents our conventional understanding of life expectancy—a point where we believe the climb is over. Yet, the true summit—the peak of optimal health—requires more effort, deeper commitment, and the right guidance.

This is where the concept of Healthspan comes in, and why it’s so critical in the pursuit of longevity. Healthspan isn’t just about living a long life; it’s about living a longer, healthier, and more rewarding life. The false summit is the years we spend simply getting by, perhaps facing chronic illness or declining vitality. The true summit is the reward of maximizing your physical and mental well-being, enjoying a life full of energy, purpose, and resilience well into your later years.

Our Logo’s Story

The OG PHS Logo

The inspiration for the Peak Healthspan logo arose from this exact discussion. Mt Olympus (pictured above) looms directly over the eastern aspect of Salt Lake City and is an ever-present backdrop to our city’s skyline. It is a well known fact to anyone who has hiked the Olympus Trail or free climbed the West Slabs, that this iconic mountain has two summits.

Initially, the first summit sought truly seems higher and grander than the second more distant peak. But once one stands directly atop the first summit still gazing up across the Tolcats Couloir that it becomes obvious as to which summit is the real winner.

This concept of two summits became a metaphor for the value we want Peak Healthspan to bring to our patients. The first summit is the patient’s long held health goal and anticipated lifespan. But it becomes our challenge at PHS to convince our patients that their previous goals were in fact a false summit. We aim to not only reveal the true summit to our patients, but also guide them to the much more lofty and rewarding goal of a longer, better life!

The Final Product

In addition to Mount Olympus and its two iconic summits, we also wanted to include the waning sun as it sets just to the right of the true summit. This setting sun represents the sad but inevitable death that every human will someday face. But in the varied colors and surrounding landscape lies a true beauty and satisfaction of a life well lived. This is the goal we hope to achieve for ALL of Peak Healthspan’s patients.
